The Authentic Cafe Racer

Electronically Adjustable Exhaust Systems For Triumph Thruxton

The Thruxton is the real thing. Clip ons, rearsets, a tucked riding position, and a twelve hundred that wants revs rather than lazy torque. Dr. Jekill & Mr. Hyde builds an electronically adjustable exhaust for it with three selectable sound modes controlled from the handlebar, available in street-legal configurations where applicable.

One exhaust, three personalities. In Dr. Jekill mode the valve stays closed for a restrained note, right for early starts and quiet streets. Dynamic mode opens it halfway and the twin sharpens up through the midrange. Mr. Hyde mode opens it fully and the Thruxton sounds the way a cafe racer is supposed to sound with the throttle pinned. You choose per situation, at the press of a button.

Triumph has moved on from the Thruxton. The bikes have not, and neither have we. Systems are still developed for this motorcycle specifically, built around its own lines and mounting points, the result of German engineering and Dutch craftsmanship. If you own one, you can still finish it properly.

Dr. Jekill & Mr. Hyde electronic valve technology lets you adjust the sound on the fly. One premium exhaust system, three distinct personalities, full control from the handlebar. Backed by a 4 year warranty.

The Valve

The Three Sound Modes

In Dr. Jekill mode the valve stays shut and the Thruxton keeps its head down. An early start, a slow crawl out of town, the last few streets home. The bike still looks like it wants to be somewhere else, but nobody has to hear about it yet.

The Exhaust

Built For The Thruxton

The Thruxton never pretended to be comfortable, and that is the point. Clip ons, rearsets, a hard seat, and a twelve hundred tuned to reward the top half of the tacho. Everything on this bike was chosen deliberately, which raises the bar for whatever you bolt to it.

The electronic valve is what earns it. Dr. Jekill mode closes it down and keeps things quiet. Dynamic mode opens it halfway and the midrange sharpens. Mr. Hyde mode opens it fully and the twin gets hard edged right where the Thruxton likes to live. All three from a button on the handlebar, changed on the move, without stopping.

Premium materials throughout, a finish built to take weather and heat year after year, and a 4 year unlimited mileage warranty behind it. Available in street-legal configurations where applicable, and on supported stock setups no fuel tuner or ECU flash is required.

Sound Check

Three Modes, One Button

Worth hearing on headphones or a decent speaker.

  • Dr. Jekill Valve closed. Held back and civil, quiet enough for a cold start at six in the morning or a slow ride to the end of the street.
  • Dynamic Valve half open. The midrange tightens and the twin picks up an edge, enough to enjoy on a back road without announcing yourself in every village.
  • Mr. Hyde Valve wide open. Hard, sharp, and loudest where the Thruxton wants to be ridden, high in the rev range with the throttle pinned.

Easier To Install Than You Think

This is not a complicated job. With basic hand tools and an afternoon, most riders fit one themselves. Every system is 100% plug and play, so there is nothing to cut and nothing to splice. Bolt it up, route the wires, go ride. Printed instructions ship in every box, our install videos are a click away, and if you get stuck we are one call away.

Why Sound Control Matters

Loud Where It Counts, Quiet Where It Does Not

A permanently loud pipe sounds like a good idea for about a week. Dr. Jekill & Mr. Hyde gives the Thruxton the hard edged note it has always deserved when the road is worth it, keeps it civil when it is not, and lets you move between the two from the handlebar without pulling over.

1

Leave Early Without A Scene

Cold start, warm up, roll out. The neighbours never have to know what time you set off.

2

Keep The Attention On The Bike

A Thruxton pulls looks parked and silent. Some days you would rather the shape did the talking.

3

Ride Anywhere

Town centres, campsites, a group meet, a car park at closing time. Each one asks for a different volume.

4

Then Use The Revs

Clear road, second gear, one press of the button, and the twin gets loud exactly where the Thruxton wants to be ridden.

Triumph Thruxton FAQ

Still Have Questions?

The questions Thruxton owners ask us most about Dr. Jekill & Mr. Hyde adjustable exhaust systems.

The system is built for the Thruxton, the Thruxton RS, and the Thruxton TFC. It is developed around those motorcycles specifically rather than adapted from another bike in the range.

Triumph has moved on from the Thruxton, but the bikes are still out there and still worth finishing properly. Confirm your exact year and model in the configurator before you order, and if you are not sure which version you have, message us and we will work it out with you.

On supported stock setups, no tuner and no ECU flash is needed. The system is developed around the factory configuration of the motorcycle.

If your bike is already running an intake, a fueling module, or other performance work, talk to your shop first, or contact us and we will help you sort out where you stand.

Yes. The valve position changes whenever you want it to, and you can ride in any of the three sound modes.

Dr. Jekill, Dynamic, and Mr. Hyde are all on the handlebar control, so you can drop the volume for a town centre and open it back up on the way out without stopping.

Our Thruxton systems are electronically adjustable exhausts, available in street-legal configurations where applicable and engineered to work with the motorcycle's stock setup.

Noise and equipment rules differ from one state and county to the next, so it is worth checking what applies where you ride. If you are unsure, get in touch before you order and we will help you figure it out.

Every system is fully plug and play. Nothing gets cut and nothing gets spliced. Printed instructions ship in the box, and the install videos are online if you want to watch the job before you start it.

Anyone comfortable with hand tools can do it. How long it takes comes down to your tools, your experience, and what condition the bike is in.

Dr. Jekill & Mr. Hyde® systems are premium exhausts. Serious engineering, quality materials, exact fitment, a finish that holds up, and electronically adjustable sound control.

Each system is developed for one specific motorcycle and built around an electronically controlled valve that gives you three sound modes from a button.

That is the part a fixed loud pipe can never do. Keep it quiet through a neighbourhood or a noise sensitive road, avoid an expensive ticket, stay on speaking terms with the people who live near you, and then open it up when the road finally gives you the chance.

You are not just buying a muffler. You are buying premium engineering, model specific development, real flexibility in daily use, and a 4 year unlimited mileage warranty.
