Freedom Never Sounded This Good

Adjustable Exhaust Systems For 2017 To Present Harley-Davidson Touring Models

Grand American Touring bikes are built to cover ground, and the exhaust should suit the road you are on rather than pick one volume and hold it. Dr. Jekill & Mr. Hyde builds adjustable exhaust systems for them, available in street-legal configurations where applicable. The systems sold here were developed for the U.S. market, running louder and freer flowing than their European counterparts, built to the same standard.

The muffler is the same either way. What you are choosing is how you want to control the valve inside it. The manual system uses a rotary switch under the left side of the gas tank, mounted to the coil or the horn depending on your model, sitting where you can reach it and turn it while you ride. The electronic system moves that control to a handlebar button driving smartbox technology. Because the exhaust itself does not change, you can start manual and move up to electronic later instead of buying twice.

One exhaust, three personalities. Dr. Jekill mode keeps the valve closed for a quiet, mellow note that suits early mornings and neighborhoods. Dynamic mode sits in the middle for a fuller mid tone. Mr. Hyde mode opens it up for deep bass with the treble and mids stripped out. You pick per situation, not per purchase.

Every system is built on a 4.5 inch body in chrome or black, offered as a 2-1 or 2-2 Slip-On, with the 2-1 Twenty-One with header available on the electronic version. Finish it with the Slashcut end cap or the single ridge Big Shot One, which is exclusive to the U.S. market. Not every combination is offered for every year and configuration, so fitment is confirmed per motorcycle.

Dr. Jekill & Mr. Hyde valve technology lets you adjust the sound on the fly. One premium exhaust system, three distinct personalities, controlled your way. Assembled in the Netherlands and backed by a 4 year warranty.

The Valve

Three Modes, One Exhaust

In Dr. Jekill mode the valve stays closed and the bike keeps to itself. Pull out of a hotel lot before sunrise, roll through a sleeping town, or sit at a downtown light without drawing a look. Everything is still there, it is just being polite about it.

Control Types

Manual Adjustable Exhaust

A four position rotary switch, mounted on the left side of the motorcycle under the tank, near the coil or horn.

It sits within easy reach from the saddle, so you can move between valve positions while you ride, from a refined cruising note to a bolder tone with real road presence.

Want to upgrade later? Start with the manual system and step up to the electronically adjustable version whenever you are ready.

Control Types

Premium Electronically Adjustable Exhaust

A compact button, mounted beside your existing handlebar controls and driven by smartbox technology.

One press moves the system between three preset modes while you ride, from a refined cruising tone to the deeper sound the bike is capable of, without reaching around the motorcycle.

2-2 Dual Slip-On Set

The dual 2-2 setup for M8 baggers

Both mufflers stay. A Jekill & Hyde pair replaces the originals, keeping the dual exit look and adding full sound control. On stock M8 Touring applications it slips onto the factory header, so nothing else has to change.

The 2-2 layout also fits select aftermarket headers depending on your bike and current setup, which makes it a practical step if you are building your exhaust in stages. Choose black or chrome, then finish with Big Shot One or Slashcut end caps.

2-1 Slip-On Kit

The clean 2-1 setup for M8 baggers

The single sided bagger look with full sound control, running on your factory Harley-Davidson M8 Touring header.

The kit supplies the crossover cap that closes off the unused outlet, then finishes with a high flow Jekill & Hyde muffler built for the single sided layout. Because you keep the factory header rather than buying a new one, it costs less than a full system that replaces it.

Why Sound Control Matters

The Right Sound For Every Mile

A bagger covers a lot of different ground in one day. Dr. Jekill & Mr. Hyde lets the exhaust keep up, holding a deep note where it belongs and a quiet one where it does not, changed on the move without stopping or swapping anything.

1

Leave Before Dawn

Pull out of a hotel lot at five in the morning without waking the whole floor above you.

2

Carry A Passenger

They sit further back in the sound than you do. Ease it off and four hundred miles stays enjoyable for both of you.

3

Roll Into Camp

Campgrounds, small towns, packed rally lots. Arriving quietly is its own kind of respect.

4

Open It Up

Then the interstate empties out, you press the button, and the bike finally says what it has been holding back.

Harley-Davidson Touring FAQ

Still Have Questions?

The answers riders ask most often about Dr. Jekill & Mr. Hyde adjustable exhaust systems for Harley-Davidson Touring models.

These systems are built for 2017 to present Harley-Davidson Grand American Touring models, covering Ultra Limited, Street Glide, Electra Glide, Road King, Road Glide, Ultra Classic, and select CVO Touring models.

The quickest way to check is the configurator. Pick your brand and model and it will show you what is available for your bike. Not every system, finish, or end cap is offered for every year and configuration, so if anything is unclear, send us your year, exact model, engine, current exhaust setup, and any major modifications and we will confirm it.

Honestly, it is personal preference. The 2-2 duals run slightly louder, but both sound impressive for a slip-on.

The 2-1 Slip-On Kit gives you the clean single sided bagger look and includes the crossover cap that closes off the unused outlet. The 2-2 Dual Slip-On Set keeps both mufflers and the traditional dual exit look. Both slip onto the factory M8 header, and both are offered in manual and electronic control.

On supported stock configurations, no tune, fuel tuner, or ECU flash is required. The system is developed around the factory setup of the motorcycle.

Already running other performance parts, like an intake or a fueling mod? Check with your mechanic or shop first, or reach out to us and we will help steer you the right way.

Yes, with either control type. The electronic system uses a button beside your existing handlebar controls, moving between three preset modes on one press.

The manual system uses a four position rotary switch on the left side of the bike, under the tank near the coil or horn, placed within easy reach from the saddle.

Our Touring systems are adjustable exhausts available in street-legal configurations where applicable and engineered to work with the motorcycle's stock setup.

Local rules on street legality vary by where you live and ride, so it is worth checking the requirements in your area. Not sure? Get in touch before you order and we will help point you the right way.

Plan on 1 to 1.5 hours. Times vary depending on your ability, your tools, and the condition of the bike.

The slip-on kits bolt onto your factory M8 header, so there is no header change and no major fabrication. The electronic version is plug and play, with no cutting or splicing of wires.

Dr. Jekill & Mr. Hyde® systems are premium exhausts, built on serious engineering, quality materials, exact fitment, clean finishes, and electronically adjustable sound control.

Every system is developed for a specific motorcycle and built with advanced parts, including an electronically controlled valve that delivers multiple sound modes at the press of a button.

That adjustable control gives you what a permanently loud pipe never can: flexibility. Slip quietly through neighborhoods and noise sensitive zones, sidestep costly noise citations, and stay on good terms with the neighbors. Then, when the road opens up, switch to a deeper, more aggressive tone at the push of a button.

This is more than a muffler or another exhaust. You are investing in premium engineering, advanced technology, model specific development, real everyday flexibility, and a 4 year warranty.
